Exploring different media & techniques

WATERCOLOUR

Kim uses professional-quality materials to produce her watercolour paintings:  Winsor & Newton fine art paint products and Arches paper.  Her palette typically includes 4 to 5 pigments which blend on wet paper to produce the translucent and  vibrant colour characteristics of her watercolours.

MIXED MEDIA

Kim has been exploring a variety of new mixed media techniques to produce captivating and colour-filled paintings.  Her work incorporates a mix of:  oriental painting on Japanese paper, splattering of charcoal powder, and collage of tissue painted with acryllics and/or watercolours.

PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE TRANSFER

Image transfer is a remarkable technique which enables the artist to apply photographic images on a variety of art materials such as:  Plexiglass, canvas and wood panels.   Kim uses her own original photography and Photoshop™ to produce interesting effects in her art pieces.

BLOCK PRINTING

Kim has another use for recycled supermarket foam trays.  With a pencil and other objects, she impresses original drawings and designs into the foam material and then prints sequential layers of colour onto paper using water-based printing ink.  The results are eye catching.
