ARTIST STATEMENT
“Currently I’m working to reinforce technical skills and enhancing my intuitive abilities to create beautiful paintings filled with colour and contrast. My most recent work has focused on landscape compositions inspired by my travels around northern Europe, Iceland, and Canada. In my artwork, I strive to capture the light, mood, colour and texture of those natural places that have left a lasting impression with me. I particularly love to explore the characteristics of watercolours; its vibrancy and transparency, how the pigments flow on paper, and ways to apply and lift colour to create subtle changes in light or vivid contrasts. It is an exciting challenge for me to visualize and create colourful and interesting compositions that reflect the wonderful beauty I see in the natural world.”

BIOGRAPHY
Kim is an emerging artist residing in Vankleek Hill, Ontario and is an active member of the Artistes Hudson Artists Association based in Hudson, Quebec.
Since childhood, Kim has always loved creating works of art. While pursuing a business career and raising a family, she still found the time to study and experiment with pastel drawing, watercolour painting, mixed media and stained glass. Following her retirement in 2012, Kim has been able to focus on both her passions: art creation and outdoor recreation.
She is an avid cyclist and cross-country skier and brings a camera to photograph the scenery along the way. These photographs guide her landscape compositions and inspire the mood and lighting reflected in her artwork. Watercolour remains her favourite medium to capture the simple beauty of the natural world.
Kim continues to pursue learning opportunities with other professional artists to broaden and deepen her skills; most recently with Roland Palmaerts, Judith Tremblay, Janet Rogers, Michael Solovyev, and Brian Turner.
Being active in the outdoors energizes her both physically and spiritually. It is this positive energy that inspires her to create the colourful and light-filled beauty that you will find in all of her artistic works.
