And what inspires my art

My current artistic focus is to strengthen my intuitive abilities to create beautiful paintings filled with colour and contrast.  My most recent work has focused on landscape compositions inspired by my travels in Europe & Canada; as well by the surrounding natural areas in Lanark County (my new home).  In my artwork, I strive to capture the light, mood, colour and character of those places that have left a lasting impression with me.  It is an exciting challenge for me to visualize and create colourful and interesting compositions that reflect the wonderful beauty I see in the natural world.

Kim is an esteemed landscape artist now residing in Perth, Ontario.  She is an active member of several regional art associations including ECOAA, Rideau Lakes Artists’ Association, Arts Carleton Place and the Kanata Art Club; and until recently the Artistes Hudson Artists based in Hudson, Quebec.

Since childhood, Kim has always loved creating works of art.  While pursuing successive careers in business, teaching, government and raising a family, she still found the time to study and experiment with pastel drawing, watercolour painting, mixed media and stained glass. Since retiring in 2012, Kim has been able to focus on both her passions:  art creation and outdoor recreation.

She is an avid cyclist and cross-country skier who brings a camera to capture the scenery along the way. These photographs guide her landscape compositions and inspire the mood and lighting reflected in her artwork.

Kim has continued to seek out opportunities to learn from various acclaimed Canadian landscape artists.  Most recently she has expanded her portfolio to include acrylic artworks, as well as continuing to work with watercolours.  In addition to her studio work, Kim is excited to broaden her talent and experience to paint on location “plein air”.

Being active in the outdoors energizes her both physically and spiritually. It is this positive energy that inspires her to create the colourful and light-filled beauty that you will find in all of her paintings.
